HOW & WHAT WE APPRAISE

Appraisal Affiliates, Inc. is a full-service appraisal and liquidation firm. Our specialties are entire estates, antiques, fine arts, collectibles, fine and costume jewelry, silver, coins, and household items. Whether it is one piece, an entire household or a collection, we can help. If you need an appraisal for a 706 Federal Estate tax return, probate, insurance purposes, equitable distribution between family members, or simply would like to know what your possessions is worth, please give us a call. We are fully insured and bonded for your protection and we are usually available at a moment's notice for "On-Site" appraisal work. We are a member of the New England Appraisers Association and conform to their high standard of ethics including USPAPS. We have been featured appraisers at numerous local antique roadshows in Saint Louis and surrounding areas, including the Antiques Roadshow held at the St. Louis Science Center.

We can appraise any item for you, your company, your clients, and specialize in estate and trust work. We have an extensive list of local trust companies, banks, law firms, real estate agents, and private individuals as references. Appraisal Affiliates, Inc. are the appraisers of choice for many prestigious St. Louis institutions.

Our firm charges $125.00 per hour for on and off-premises (document preparation) on appraisal work, having a two-hour minimum on all written appraisals. If the items are for outright sale then we will explain to you what the items are worth from wholesale to retail, then together we will come agree on price; a fair price that we can pay for the items and still manage a respectable profit while waiving the appraisal fee.

Many times people need appraisals prepared when a family member has passed on. We specialize in Federal Estate Tax Appraisals (706) and equitable distribution appraisals, as well as insurance appraisals. We do not appraise real property (houses, condos, or any other real estate), although you can contact us in regards to our preferred strategic business partner for all of your Real Estate needs.

All of our appraisals are printed and mailed on company letterhead. We also email each client an electronic copy, this way items can be added or deleted if the appraisal needs updated for any purpose.

PUBLIC ESTATE SALES

Open Estate Event

When more advantageous, we prefer to conduct on-site public estate sales. We charge 30% of the total proceeds. Services included in this commission are all pre-sale clean-up, displaying of items to be sold, pricing of the merchandise, the research necessary to do so, employee labor, the salary of those present the days of the sale, along with after-sale accounting. We bring in all necessary props such as tables, lighting, display cases, and clothing racks; along with shopping bags and wrapping material for the attendees. These services not only make the sales more inviting and appealing, but also provides a shopper friendly environment for attendees. In most cases, after-sale clean-up and hauling are included. We draw the attendees from our extensive list of clients, and of course the public; through e-mailing, personal phone calls, and advertising on EstateSales.net.

ESTATE BROKERING

Private & Select

When brokering an estate is the best route to take, we will suggest this option. There can be several reasons for taking this route of liquidation including parking constraints, lack of salable merchandise, or simply, you, the client, do not wish to have a public sale. The guidelines for conducting a private broker are the same as a public sale except for the clientele consist of only select buyers, targeted specifically for the items to be sold. The commission for this service is also 30% of the total proceeds.
